Wine Tasting Event, October 27.

When Max came in yesterday to drop off some wine, I commented that after doing a little math, I figured he polished around 400 glasses after his last tasting. No, he replied, it was only around 300. Oh. Here's the invite for their next event:

"The Bodega Weinert tasting was a lot of fun and a tremendous success! For all who were able to attend, we'd like to extend a warm "Thank You" on behalf of Iduna Weinert and the Weinert family for showing your support for this traditional, old-world style Argentine producer. For all those who missed it, and for all those who want to enjoy another great night of wines at Carlitos Gardel, we are polishing our glassware, and gearing up for the upcoming Wines of Luigi Bosca tasting, so mark your calendars!

On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, Carlitos Gardel will be featuring wines from the oldest single family-owned producer in Mendoza: Luigi Bosca. Founded by Leoncio Arizu in 1901, Luigi Bosca has helped shape and define Mendoza's importance in the international world of wines. Over a century after its inception, it is one of the leading protagonists in the creation of the Denominacion de Origen Controlada (DOC), making Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, the first officially approved Appellation of Argentina and all of South America, integrating itself with pride to other Appellations of the world. The wines of this producer are modern in style, yet still maintain the classical balance and terroir that has come to be expected of Mendoza and Argentina.
The Wines of Luigi Bosca tasting will showcase all 8 of the current releases, accompanied by 2 highlights from the 2002 vintage.

The current releases are:

Luigi Bosca Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2007
Luigi Bosca Gala 3 2006 - a blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, and Riesling
Luigi Bosca Pinot Noir Reserva 2006
Luigi Bosca Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2005
Luigi Bosca Malbec Reserva 2006
Luigi Bosca Malbec DOC 2005
Luigi Bosca Gala 2 2006 - a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot
Luigi Bosca Gala 1 2005 - a blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Tannat

The 2002 retrospective will include:

Luigi Bosca Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2002
Luigi Bosca Malbec Reserva 2002

The cost of the tasting (all 10 wines) is $40.

That evening, along with Sommelier Max and his brother Gerard, there will be two special guests, Marco Campo and Joel Portman, who together are the ambassadors of Luigi Bosca in the United States and Southern California. We will be serving our tapas menu from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm, and the wines will be poured all night long! We invite you to join us as we pour, taste, chat, and eat our way through Argentina with an amazing history of wines at our table. Salute!
