The Art of Chateau Mouton Rothschild

French artist Bernard Venet is the lucky recipient of ten cases of wine for his 2007 label. I never heard of this guy but there's a photo of him and he looks very serious so he must be good.

I have heard of some of the other artists who have taken part in this annual tradition that began in 1945. Balthus, that naughty boy, true to his essential theme and censored for it, go figure: American wine drinkers protested it claiming it could incite child abuse, so 30,000 bottles destined for the good ol' U-S-of-A had the labels removed. It's either contagious, or there's so much ridiculous in this I need to censor myself right now.

Read more on this year's label from two blogs, both very good reads, and also over there on the side bar so you can keep up.
Here's a link to further peruse past labels.
