Know the people who feed you.

Today is Thursday and today is when Glendale has its farmers market on Brand.

This is Sonny, maybe Sunny. Not her actual name, when she was at the Japanese internment camp during WW2, someone asked her name. Unable to pronounce it, she was instead dubbed Sonny, and it stuck. Now Sonny is growing for me the world's greatest arugula.

I mean The World's GREATEST Arugula.

If you walk past Sonny's table and there is no arugula, truth is, there is some, but only for me. I'm special. It's hidden under the table.

Every week for three years I've been eating Sonny's World's Greatest Arugula, and never have I seen this on her table: Nasturtium. I was given one to try, and I have to tell you, this stuff is a game changer. I've never tasted anything as interesting, complex, or amazing. A delicate scent of honey, you throw the whole thing into your mouth, and it moves from a soft, floral, honey beginning through a grassy middle to a fiery, Chinese mustard finish to clear the sinuses. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I definitely need this in my life.

Though I did give up one of the bunches I got to Richard, The Pedros Avocado Guy. He'd never tried it either.

A nice ciabatta, good olive oil, delicate cheese, hummus, nasturtium, and a good bottle of wine, holy guacamole!
